On August 4, 2026, Maria Makarovych, Head of the LDLU East Asian Office, attended the Ketagalan Forum: 2026 Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue, Taiwan’s premier security event organized annually by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This year's anniversary forum brought together leading political figures, parliamentarians, scholars, and experts from the Indo-Pacific, Europe, North and Latin America.
Key speakers at the event included Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini Russell Dlamini, Honorary Chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul, as well as former Deputy Prime Minister of Canada Chrystia Freeland, and former Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin.
The discussions focused on strengthening the resilience of democracies, further developing a "latticework" security architecture in the Indo-Pacific, and building supply chains independent of the PRC. Another significant event at the forum was the launch of a campaign against the PRC’s Ethnic Unity and Progress Promotion Law — a discriminatory act aimed at oppressing the peoples subjugated by Beijing and undermining Taiwan's sovereignty.
For the LDLU team, participation in the Ketagalan Forum was an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded individuals from different regions and discuss issues of mutual interest in the field of global security.
