KSE students meeting with TaiwanICDF representative: education, culture, and wew opportunities for Ukrainian Youth

May 15, 2026

On May 13, 2026, with the facilitation of the Liberal Democratic League of Ukraine (LDLU), the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) hosted a meeting between students and Sandy Cheng, a consultant for the governmental organization TaiwanICDF, which specializes in international assistance and socio-economic development programs.

The TaiwanICDF representative acquainted the audience with the specifics of Taiwanese society and current support programs for Ukraine. Educational prospects for Ukrainians in Taiwanese higher education institutions became the key focus of the discussion. It was noted that the Taiwanese education system, modeled on American standards, is open to international applicants even without prior knowledge of Taiwanese Mandarin.

Issues of intercultural communication, social adaptation, and the experience of the student community in Taiwan, which currently numbers over 120 Ukrainians, were discussed separately. Attention was also paid to matters of national security and the functioning of the healthcare system in Taiwan.

Beyond the educational segment itself, the event included a meeting between LDLU representative Mariia Akulinina and Sandy Cheng with KSE representatives — Vice Rector for International Cooperation Kostiantyn Kyrychenko and Academic Opportunities Manager Krystyna Shechkova. The parties discussed practical mechanisms for institutional cooperation between Taiwanese and Ukrainian universities.

LDLU continues its systematic work on building horizontal ties between Ukraine and the democratic states of the Indo-Pacific. Such initiatives form the basis for deepening bilateral cooperation and expanding Ukraine's academic presence in East Asia.
